Council comes to consensus to dialogue with Tohono O’odham Nation — Glendale Star
After more than an hour and a half discussion at the Oct. 15 workshop, Glendale City Council directed City Attorney Michael Bailey to start a dialogue with the Tohono O’odham Nation to gather information about its proposed casino in the county island adjacent to the city at 95th and Northern avenues.
“We need to listen to the citizens and what the community wants,” Councilmember Norma Alvarez said. “There has been a lot of misinformation about this subject and we need to get the truth out there.”
Council consensus on opening a dialogue to gain information does not change the city’s official opposition to the casino.
