Jobs take center stage at West Valley Resort top-off ceremony — Sun City Daily News-Sun

GLENDALE, Ariz. – A topping off ceremony at the West Valley Resort construction site brought together hundreds of people from the Tohono O’odham Nation and elected officials from surrounding cities in support of the jobs-producing casino project.

“We have to have a level of understanding of how this project is not only going to benefit the Nation’s members, but how this project is going to benefit” the entire West Valley, “and the East Valley as well … and the entire state of Arizona,” Ned Norris Jr. said to cheers and applause.

“It’s an extremely emotional time,” said Norris, chairman of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

The journey has been exciting, frustrating and rewarding he added. “Everything that life puts in front of us.”
