Glendale casino opens Sunday after legal battles — 12 News

A new casino in the Glendale area opens its doors to the public Sunday, but it’s been a bumpy road, according to Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Edward D. Manuel.

The Tohono O’odham Nation has had legal battles with the State of Arizona for six years.

“The casino is a class two right now until we get our litigation resolved with the state,” Manuel said. “And then we can convert it over to a class three.”

Class two means no table games, such as blackjack, no slot machines like many gamblers are used to, though they promise on the surface, the experience will be the same.
